I am a dedicated social work professional with hands-on experience in child care, community engagement, and field research. I have worked as a social work attachee at All Souls Children’s Home, where I managed daily operations, provided emotional support, and coordinated care for vulnerable children. I also have experience as a fieldwork researcher, having conducted a detailed study on socio-economic factors influencing young women to remain in abusive marriages in Harare, gathering and analyzing sensitive data directly from affected communities. Additionally, I bring strong communication, organizational, and client service skills developed through roles in diverse settings, including customer service as a cashier. I am passionate about advocating for social justice and improving lives through informed, compassionate support.
Education
In a social work degree, you learn how to support people going through tough situations, like poverty, abuse, or mental health struggles. It covers things like how people behave, how social systems work, and how to work with different cultures. You also learn practical skills like counseling, advocating for others, and managing cases. A big part of it is doing placements where you get real-world experience helping people in different settings.
For my A levels, I studied Literature, Sociology, and Religious Studies. In Literature, I explored different texts, learned how to analyze themes, language, and characters, and developed strong writing skills. Sociology taught me about how society works, including topics like class, gender, and culture. Religious Studies gave me insight into different beliefs, ethical issues, and how religion influences people’s lives and society.
For my O Levels, I passed 9 subjects: Geography, History, Literature, Shona, English, Accounts, Biology, and Integrated Science. These gave me a strong foundation in both the arts and sciences. I developed skills in writing and analysis through subjects like Literature and English, while Geography and History helped me understand the world and its past. Science subjects like Biology and Integrated Science built my knowledge of how living things and physical systems work, and Accounts introduced me to basic financial principles.
Work & Experience
I worked at All Souls Children’s Home in Mutoko as a social work attachee for one year. For the first three months, I stood in for the matron, taking on responsibilities like overseeing daily routines, caring for the children’s welfare, and managing staff schedules. Throughout the year, I also helped with counseling, case follow-ups, coordinating with schools and hospitals, and supporting the children’s emotional and social needs. The experience gave me hands-on skills in child care, administration, and working within a community setting.
I worked as a cashier at Eat n Lick for 8 months, where I handled customer transactions, processed payments, and provided friendly service. I also assisted with taking orders, maintaining cleanliness at the counter, and making sure customers had a smooth and pleasant experience. The role helped me build strong communication, teamwork, and time management skills.
