About Candidate
I have been with the National University of Science and Technology’s ICTS department for sixteen (16) years and of those sixteen years, I have been in ICT management for eleven years. I completed my Master’s in Computer Science in November 2011 and now have ten years post qualification experience in ICT leadership and management. I have a certificate in CEH and have been involved in implementing Cyber security and formulation of Information Security policies and conducting risk assessments.
My sixteen years of experience working in an ICT Services department as both technical support and advisor to the Computer Science department makes me be an effective candidate. I have acted as Director ICTS several times and the latest acting being in 2020 were we embarked on vigorous eLearning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. I have been working at the University’s ICTS department and have risen through the ranks from being a support technician when I joined the university to manager by exhibiting dedication and commitment to my work. Through the years I have performed various duties, including but not limited to:
● Engaging service providers to purchase software for the University and negotiate prices for bandwidth with our service providers.
● Systems administration, when I was Software Engineer, I was involved in developing modules in Navision and maintaining them.
● Systems Administration: Moodle implementation and roll out to the University.
● Helpdesk system management
● ICT Policy Formulation and implementation- I drafted and edited all the ICT policies which include the ICT Acceptable Use Policy, ICT Security Policy and the Disaster and Recovery Policy.
● Management of Human Resources which includes being involved in the recruitment of relevant personnel within the department and quarterly evaluations
● Formulating the departmental budget and managing it t in line with the strategic plan
● Involved in the formulation of the University strategic plan and that of the department.
I have been fortunate enough to serve as an academic supervisor for master’s candidates at the National University of Science and Technology. I have also served and assisted in the curriculum review and development of certain degree programmes in the Computer science department at the University. As ICT training manager, I have been mandated to design ICT training programs inline with the ever changing technology and this has made me learn to be an avid reader and learn more about the needs of the University and how to cater for them.
